StudioNow was founded in early 2007 with the mission of connecting the exploding, but highly fragmented, population of content creators with businesses that needed their services. StudioNow gained early traction working with large directory companies that served the SMB markets, as well as digital media companies that sought to increase their video inventory. StudioNow provided a scalable, high quality, and affordable solution for these companies.
One of these early customers was AOL, which was seeking a platform and technology tool to expand its video offering. AOL acquired StudioNow in January of 2010. Within AOL, StudioNow continued to evolve and dramatically expand both its network of production companies and its capabilities, creating content for some of the largest brands and agencies in the world, such as Verizon, IBM, Ogilvy, Toyota, and L’Oreal.
In early 2013, the StudioNow management team led a spinout of the company, and StudioNow once again operates as an independent entity. Since the spinout, StudioNow has made significant investments in its technology and has refocused the business around expanding its global marketplace to deliver value to both creators and businesses around the world.
